Vegetarian Cookbook back on the boil

Vegetarian Cookbook is back on the boil

140 seasonal recipes. A painting inspired by each dish.

After an unintended extended hiatus of years instead of weeks (that's burnout for you), the final 50 food paintings are being created. See the evidence above in the form of Pasta Primavera and French Toast.

For those who don't know, this project has been underway since 2010. Though the idea germinated about 20 years earlier! More detail and links to all the recipes and paintings so far available at www.wherefishsing.com/cookbook

All 140 recipes are done, barring last minute switch-ins (Bibimbap anyone?) or edits (who put fresh mushrooms in a spring recipe? Tut tut.) And 90 or so paintings are done, barring some of the really early ones being given a facelift because I can paint better now than five years ago.

I have to say it is such a relief to be over the creative block, nay, FREEZE around these paintings. They are coming thick and fast. There are ten, yes, ten of them in various stages of progress right now.

As before, each recipe is being posted on the blog after it's painting is done. Pasta Primavera is there now. French Toast will be available shortly, followed by Super Easy Goldilocks Mac and Cheese. Then to look forward to, in no particular order, there will be San Choy Bau, Spring Pot Pie, Summer Dips, Arrabiata Pasta Sauce, Potato and Leek Soup, Asparagus and Lemon Risotto, Makhani Dahl, Beetroot and Broadbean Salad and Matar Paneer. And then another 38 or so!

If you'd like to follow along and see snaps of the paintings as they are created, this is happening on the Facebook page. It's a public page. You don't need to join Facebook to see it.

Culinary Herbs series

Prints now available in many sizes via Fine Art America

The Culinary Herbs series was created this time last year for the exhibition, 'Meditations on a Cook's Garden'. It is a series of common and some more obscure cooking herbs, each sized 5" x 7" and matted to 8" 10" in watercolour and ink on 180gsm watercolour paper.

The paintings were exhibited as a group, filling a wall in the exhibition space. I have to say, they looked great, and unsurprisingly people were buying several at a time to put up in a group of their own in their kitchen. This is how they look best.

Almost all the originals sold really quickly. So I have made this series available via the wonderful technology of 'print on demand'.

All 23 Culinary Herbs are available to choose from as reproductions prints via Fine Art America. They ship worldwide. There is a money back guarantee if you are not happy with the quality. They offer many sizes. They also offer many variations in mounting and framing. Unframed is one of those options too.

If you're after an original there are just five left. Most of these are unsurprisingly the more obscure cooking herbs.
Chervil. Mint. Salad burnet. Savory. Sorrel.
