We had an awful summer growing season here in Victoria with floods and an astonishing number of cold days. Autumn has been warmer and drier than summer was! Still, there comes a time when the plants from last season have to make way for the new seedlings. That time is now. Which has made for a wonderful harvest of green tomatoes. Great for jam. Mmm, green tomato jam.
This is also the end of the Winter season of the cookbook. Which means it's the halfway mark in the art vege cookbook project. Yes, all the Autumn and Winter recipes and paintings are complete.
I'm going to take a bit of a break, perhaps up to a month, on posting recipes and paintings. I won't be idle though. This time will be spent organising the printed version of the cookbook and attending to some non-artistic business projects which require my attention to complete. In the meantime, I'd like to keep blogging and I'm curious about what you would like to hear about. I'll be experimenting with writing on myself as an artist and various creativity, art and behind the scene artist life topics. If there's something you'd be fascinated to read about, let me know in the comments.
Hi Fi, I'm intrigued with whether or not you're getting any response to your paintings and cookbook? that is, are the originals selling? I know you have people who read your blog, twitter posts etc...make your recipes - like me! Perhaps this is "commercial in confidence" - no probs. Just wondering...and hoping that you are able to live from your creativity.
ReplyDeleteCiao
Catriona
I picked 9kg of green tommies on the weekend and made a spicy chutney/relish. Such a disappointing season, but there is always hope for next season!
ReplyDeleteAnd for now I'm setting up my winter garden and really looking forward to a big crop of Leeks!!!
Also picked a basket full of Pine Mushrooms in Creswick on the weekend, slim pickings really but with the rain coming next weekend it could go gang busters!
Hi Catriona,
ReplyDeleteit's actually too early to say as the paintings have only been released for general sale as of a few minutes ago! It's taken a long time as I've had a lot of roadblocks on the way to getting to this point (a lot of them in my head - it's scary putting creations out there to be judged). Aside from that, yes, there are people reading the blog & following along but the project hasn't quite hit that magic/viral point & I'm not sure why. People who find it, love it. So I'm actually looking at getting pro help to spread the word. Recommendations happily received.
wholelarderlove - thanks for stopping by. Creswick is a great place for pine mushrooms & slippery jacks. I only started mushrooming last year and am still figuring out how to use these new flavours and textures. Hints welcome!
